(L'article en Français est juste en dessous:P.Pour des questions de praticité et pour promouvoir l'iba,il est éécrit en anglais originellement:P!)
What is IBA?
IBA is the International Baduk Academy.
The last week,on Thursday,i went to KGS.I often go on kgs at morning. It let me to see games between strong players(7 dan,8 dan,and sometimes, like this morning,9dan)and it is ideal to start the day.
Last Thursday,i saw a game of a 8 dan.It is not very often we can see 8dan on kgs.Lots of them are pros(1 or 2 dan)and others are the top amateur players.Actually, they play more on Tygem, for exemple, where lots of top world players are.But on kgs, they give online lessons. There aren't lots of pros or very strong players on kgs who play rank games seeable by others members.
I saw the game and the new 8 dan.I decided to look his information. His name is Lee Ki Bong,a 7 dan amateur from Korea(it is the best amateur level in Korea. In France,it is the 8dan level, and just 1 player is 8dan.It is Fan Hui 2p,of course^^!).
It was impressive:He managed to beat Cornel Burzo,a top european 7dan player, taking white and without komi.
After the game,i decided to go to professor Lee Kibong blog.I discovered the IBA.
The IBA is the International Baduk Academy. It is a baduk school in Korea,Seoul, the capital city.
There are lots of baduk schools in Korea, but the academy of professors Lee Ki Bong is different, like no other.
First, the school is,naturally for Korean, but for foreign players too.In europe(and i think in America and maybe in Africa too)lots of players want to become strong, but we haven't enough pros or strong teachers. We have not baduk school too.
But professors Lee Ki Bong proposes to let motivate players who want to become strong to go to the academy.
The offical language of IBA is english, and it let to understand everybody without a great knowledge of Korean(naturally,it would be more useful to speak Korean a little^^).
The price is negociable per month. It depends of many factors but i am sure it is certainly the cheapest baduk school in Korea. For exemple, other Baduk schools cost 400 euros or more per month.
The school have just open the last month, and is very new.
At the moment, professor Lee is the only teacher, but sure when more and more students will go,he will manage to recruit other teachers.
For me,who the biggest dream is to become pro and who work a lot for that, the IBA would be ideal place to become a trully strong player and to reach my dream.I am sure when i work more and more, with the help of Professor Lee,it is possible.
I have spoken with professor in order to have renseignements about IBA and baduk in Korea. He gave me all the things i wanted to know.He is a really very nice personn.
So,i wanted to write an article to speak about IBA.I don't know it will be useful or not,but i wanted to thanks professor Lee.
Thanks to him,my dream and certainly the dream of lot of other go players become possible(sure,it is very very very difficult, but everything becomes possible!)
Thank you very much professor이기봉,thank you fo all.
I wish i will come in IBA soon,very soon^^!
